  1. I just got this in November 2008. I will tell you a secret to get the best results. Only during the years I have purchased a large number of these types of devices and all sucked. Only iTrip (both the version with an iPod connector and a standard headphone jack) is the secret that makes them better. Secret # 1), since these products is limited, check the transmitter is near the radio. Secret # 2) If you do not need stereo, use the LX-mode. Secret # 3. . . and this is big. . . Navigate to the international situation. Here’s how.

    Before you buy, go to your car and make sure you can set the radio frequency of 87 9 or less. If you can, you can use this setting parts. No American radio has permission to transmit on that frequency. If you can set the car radio to this, then either buy the product in this part or other Griffin iTrip (with standard headphone connector). I have both and both use the same instructions.

    first contact of the iTrip. You have two buttons – a large + / – button and a small button that, or will “Select” or “Preset written on it.

    Press and hold the lower 10 – 15 sec. First, the display flashes “2″ or any other number. To ignore. Just keep waiting. When the display flashes “DX” or “LX”. Use + / – to move to the LX (not in stereo.) Press the small and the selection is saved.

    Now for International Fashion (in order to get the stations during the 88th 1).
    ;
    not Hold button for 10-15 seconds. First, the display flashes “2″ or any other number. To ignore. Just keep waiting. When the display flashes “DX” or “LX” . Ignore this too, continued to hold the small button. The display changes to “U.S.” Use + / – to switch to INTL. Press the small and the selection is saved.
    < , br /> With my iTrip for the LX and INTL is now set up the car and iTrip to 87 9 iTrip I use the instructions to save as a preset. I put one of the buttons on my car radio to it. < br />
    When I use my iPod, the sound is crystal clear, I need to adjust the car radio to ultra-high volume. It’s perfect. iTrip but no longer with instructions to ask the fashion INTL, nor could I find instructions on their website or on the web. Like this.. Press this, do this and you will get a five star experience!

  2. This is one of three Griffin iTrip adapters I have, is probably the most practical to use. FCC requirements on these things limit the transmit power to something which is difficult to reach the car stereo, but if you do not set this mode for a higher power, you may be lucky enough to hear anything. I believe that more variation between vehicles than you might imagine, I travel a bit ‘and have used it in rental cars in the United States, Canada and Britain. This is especially helpful if this can be true with 0. 1MHz intervals to help find an available frequency in other countries (where they may be illegal, because they are in Britain). The sound quality is usually OK, but if you think probably increase the noise in conflict with a local FM station, and it’s time to retune. The interface box provides a much cleaner sound, but with more wires and sometimes with mechanical noise. This is in my travel kit now and I do not think there is a reasonable alternative.

  3. This device works just as advertised: you load your iPod and transmits the audio on an FM frequency at low power. If you have any other way to use your iPod in the car (cassette adapter, line-in, etc.), this is a good choice, especially at Amazon prices. The sound quality is not great, but is as good as regular FM reception.

    However, you must be aware that this product works differently cars. I was lucky with the iTrip in some cars (mostly American made rental cars), but could not get it to work on some other cars (like my Infiniti). Before buying, I suggest you look at the Griffin Technology website to see if others have had this work by car.

  4. Griffin iTrip Auto Car Charger for iPod with a built-in FM transmitter lets you listen to your iPod through your car stereo, while the cost of the iPod.

    I was a big fan of Griffin products. I think they are generally well designed and the consumer receives a high quality product at a reasonable price. That said, I was a bit ‘disappointed with iTrip. I used a low-end FM transmitter (Belkin TuneCast II) for over a year now, and use it as a basis for comparison against the bid Griffin.

    Product from Belkin is also connected to a cigarette lighter for power, but not charge your iPod. Belkin is the signal through the headphone jack on your iPod. ITrip On the other hand, it connects via the iPod dock connector and offers both power and signal connections at the same time. Belkin power cable is an accessory and can draw power from two AAA batteries inside. ITrip to be undertaken by car to work. The only advantage from Belkin on this point is that my cigarette lighter is not powered when the ignition is switched off or the key is the radio “alone”. The ignition must be “on”. Belkin still provides the function of the FM transmitter with the engine off. AAA batteries, also remember the frequency of the station. used when it is turned off. One of my first concerns was to restore the iTrip frequency. every time I use it. Not so. Seems to have no memory volitile for that. As originally planned, seems to remember the station.

    iTrip controls are simple. Plug one end into your car, the second for the iPod. There is a + / – button and the Select button and a backlit LCD display that shows the frequency. Simply select a station that is not used in your area, and press “play” on the iPod. It’s that simple. Griffin construction quality is usually high standards. ITrip front of control is a glossy plastic that matches my black iPod. The back is rubber. As for the fit and finish, my only objection is that the keys rattle when the device is shaken. This allows the unit feels cheap, but not the actual functionality.

    During the operation, I think the iTrip is a low sound not smooth and devoid of respect for the Belkin. And iTrip seems to pick up static “Pops” and the noise power when I use some accessories (eg – the wipers). I could blame this poor shielding of cables in my car, but Belkin does not collect any of this sounds up. Just music. A plus that I noticed is that the iTrip with the iPod volume control is disabled. It seems to send the signal to my car radio to a preset level, and use the car deck is a volume knob to adjust the level. Units contrast Belkin (connected the iPod headphone jack) is open to the volume settings of the iPod and the iPod must be near a maximum of Belkin to “know” that there is signal. Belkin is automatic when the signal is detected and turn off automatically after 60 seconds of inactivity (after which I’m blasting high static without playing a car radio station). ITrip transmits quiet dead air for as long as that is connected Nice!

    My overall impression? Really sorry for the quality of sound. I like the Belkin in almost every other aspect. I will continue to test it in other vehicles, but listening to your sound is one reason that an FM transmitter, so the lack of sound quality weights in my assessment.

  5. It ‘hard to see how many find the iTrip so wonderful and some of us may find so terrible. Or there are significant variations in the manufacture of the product or the location and design of the FM radio antenna in some cars are the problem. In any case, the signal from the control I am so weak that there was clear static no matter where I put the transmitter and as I put the cable. Never mind that the station that I have chosen – they were all bad. Unfortunately, even when it was still static noise would increase, decrease, increase, and so on. Also, as others have mentioned in reviews, the sound is much quieter than the car’s built-in components.

    Good idea, but I voted for other reviews a stronger signal. Amazon with the return process easy, and given the positive relationship of negative reviews, you should give him a chance. But there’s a shot in the dark.
