How can I physically connect an mp3 player in a 2002 Nissan Maxima without using a tape deck transmitter.?

I have an mp3 player that I want to connect with a line of high-quality audio to my stereo, but I do not want to replace my stereo. Otherwise, it is a superior way to connect to your stereo without using a tape recorder or an FM transmitter?
