Whats the difference between an Ipod and a mp3 player?

Not including iPod that plays video, etc. Just to mention a regular iPod nano and an MP3 player. No extras. Just music players.

  1. Nothing.

Apple is a big company, that is why a lot of people like the iPod.

    Nothing wrong with mp3 players.

  2. IPod can hold more songs and has a slimmer design

  3. iPod is just huger and can play videos and stuff..there isnt a huge diff

  4. The ipod is worldly known as opposed to regular mp3 players.
The do the same shit though.

  5. Ipods are more overrated! i have an ipod and i love it, but i dont see THAT much difference between it and my old Mp3

  6. iPod is a brand of mp3 player

  7. iPod is just Apple’s trademarked name for their MP3 player.

  8. ipod is a brand and mp3 is a device
so every ipod is an mp3 but not every mp3 is not an ipod
    its like tissue and kleenex
kleenex is a brand of tissue

  9. ipods are better and hold more songs and aren’t cheap! =)

  10. nothing but ipod is a company.

  11. i-pods are better quality and they are funner and they dont break like mp3 do

  12. Ipods are awesome!!

  13. well ipod is newer and efficiently and quality better designed /can hold more songs niceer design/look. better company andd more likely to work better

  14. Ipod is just a brand. Besides their popularity, they don’t really offer anything more than the other brands out there. If you just want it for music, just look for a mp3 player with a lot of memory space

  15. iPods are made by the apple company. mp3 players are just kinda there i guess. in my opinion ipods are a little nicer but i guess there isn’t really a big difference

  16. They are different models, it is like the difference between flip and slide phones.

  17. WOW, come on ppl…the interface is the main difference, the ipod’s interface is unique and stylish design is very different from anyother music player. the new music players are based on similar blueprint form the ipod. its was unique design that no other music player had

  18. An iPod is a specific product with certain features which includes MP3 compatibility. an “MP3 player” is anything that plays MP3’s. if you don’t want an iPod you could try the Zune. The only major difference is that iPods also play MP4’s and AAC files which are just specially coded files Apple developed. Most MP3 players won’t play AAC files, since they are specific to iTunes and apple products. If you run into this problem you can convert AAC files, using itunes, into MP3’s or whatever file type you want. I think winamp can do that too though.

  19. For music players, you can compare ipod nano with creative zen,
Go to the tutorial which about best mp3 players, just music players.

  20. Ipod are from Apple and have better games and apps, mp3 can only play mp3 format, and Ipod can play protected files and mp3, m4p, and m4a files, and Apple is a big company, Ipod costs as low as $150 and as high as $4-500 (brand new ipods)

  21. Huge difference, though I’d like to think an I-pod is a mp3.

    Ipod:
Charges on your computer, unlike SOME mp3 players that use batteries. You get a MUCH better charge than you would get from a mp3 (lasts longer). It’s easy to turn on/off and it’s very simple. The nano, as I’ve talking about, holds plenty of songs. Maybe somewhere around 200 songs. EXAMPLE: 20 songs in my ipod nano only takes about 68 MB when ther is 966 MB to use.
You can buy a lot of cool things (most of them, expensive) to go with your ipod, like sterios. The ipod is slimmer, and easier to take places.
Here are the cons… ipods tend to run more money. The ear buds that you get with them really just stink and have poor quality after the first 1-2 weeks. Any headphones/ear buds that aren’t from the apple or ipod company, will also ruin the quality of your songs also. If you want to get a qaulity set of headphones/ear buds, you’ll have to go on the itunes shop and buy some of about $50. That’s somewhat ridiculous.

It’s also slower to sync songs on. If you have CD songs you want to download, you’ll download first onto media player. Then, you have to download a program from itunes, much like the media player. That will sync your songs for you. It’s difficult to learn though.

    MP3:
Mp3 players include the radio, unlike ipods. Even some of the cheapest headphones will work with it. You can get any kind of mp3 for $40-500. There are some like ipods, like the philips brand (pricey). This brand charges with the computer. RCAs are pretty good as a first mp3 (experience).
You can’t buy songs from itunes, that only works with an ipod. There are other places that sell downloadable songs, like walmart and amazon. Some cheaper, some a few cents more than itunes 99 cents each song.
As for space, it all depends on how much space you buy. The more GB, the more space. Though MP3s seem like they goe through more space easily.

I can’t tell you which one is better, they seem like they have the same amount of advantages/dis-advantages. Hope I helped!
